The Update
CIHI has released new edit specifications effective for MDS records completed with a target date later than April 1, 2007. Some of the regulatory changes are as follows:
- Updates to the Facility Profile
- Wording changes to question A7
- PDF forms for assessments have been updated to reflect the updated forms provided by CIHI.
What Momentum is Doing
Momentum Healthware is currently developing a new version of its MDS software (version 6.50) that is compliant with these changes. This version will be posted for release to clients that submit to CIHI only once we have certified the application.
Momentum will certify its application in April. Clients will be notified by email once Momentum attains certification and the application shall be available for download at that time. As noted by CIHI, client sites will not be able to submit Q1 data until our application has been certified for the new fiscal year.
Recommendation to clients:
- It is recommended that the clients complete data entry of Q4 data and records from the first 14 days of Q1 (those records which need to be submitted for RWPD reports) in the version of software that is currently installed
- Once Q4 data is entered and successfully submitted to CIHI, the new release of the software should be installed to allow Q1 records to be printed on the new forms.
- Q1 assessments printed prior to installation of the new software will not be printed on the updated forms.
