Updates to ICD-9-CM List

The Update
Canadian clients have the option of using either ICD-9-CM or ICD-10-CA coding classification in MDS or Care Management. This announcement is to advise our clients that an updated ICD-9-CM list has been made available. The effective date for this new list is October 1, 2008.
The list of new, invalid and revised ICD-9-CM codes has been posted to the CMS website for review.
What Momentum is Doing
The downloadable file that is used for importing into Care Management and MDS is available from this location (This year’s version is Version 26).
- As there are no planned releases of either the Care Management or MDS to correspond with the October 1, 2008 implementation date, clients should plan to download and manually import the ICD-9-CM lists if they are using ICD-9-CM in their business processes.
- Clients using ICD-10-CA should not download the ICD-9-CM lists.
- Once downloaded, clients may import the files using the instructions provided in on line help for the respective applications.
- Clients may also contact the Momentum Healthware Support department to arrange for technical assistance importing the lists.
