RTLS for Acute Care
Currently, hospitals and acute care facilities deal with overcrowding, inconsistent staffing, and increasing patient demand. The introduction
of Momentum’s Real-Time Location System (RTLS) helps streamline and automatically record patient flow and resource deployment to
improve efficiency and reduce costs.
PATIENT FLOW
Nothing minimizes patient satisfaction more than feeling forgotten in waiting or exam rooms. RTLS reveals bottlenecks and notifies staff
when patient waiting times exceed targeted limits. The facility floor plan reveals the real-time occupancy status of each room, which
eliminates the need for staff to check rooms and make phone calls to inquire which rooms are available. The system monitors a patient’s
progress throughout their visit, with specific milestones triggering events. Housekeeping can be notified to clean an exam room when a
patient leaves. Doctors can be automatically paged when a patient returns to the exam room from diagnostic imaging. Surgical start and
finish times can be recorded. The result is a more efficient patient encounter process, with automated rules managing the activities of
your staff.
ASSET LOCATION
Under-utilization of assets is a significant problem in the healthcare industry. Affixed to portable assets or charts, the Asset Tag emits
signals containing each tag's unique identification code. As a "tagged" piece of equipment moves within the facility, the system identifies
its precise location. Eliminate facility-wide sweeps to locate equipment, as well as reduce asset loss and theft, excess rentals, and
overbuying. Automatically record when an asset leaves a designated department to produce a in/out of department asset report.
ASSET MANAGEMENT
Enable care providers and other staff to automatically notify maintenance when a piece of equipment needs repair by pressing a button
on the asset tag, which then communicates the exact ID and location for an expedited response. This will create a work order in the
system for the maintenace department, which records when service was completed, what repairs were required, and when the next
preventative maintenance will be due.
STAFF COMMUNICATION
Enable staff to communicate to one another via PDA device. Send a voice message or quick-pick text message to a co-worker or group
of co-workers. Send task requests for a specific patient or to a specific care provider. Eliminate the need to to find a staff member and
physically talk to them, saving valuable time in your day.
REPORTING FEATURES
Use the integrated reporting features to analyze location, movement, workflow, event and other system data. The built-in reports are
essential tools that facilitate time management studies, classification documentation and researching frequency and duration of staff/
patient interaction. Review such metrics as: patient wait times, door-to-treatment times, total patient encounter times, asset utilization
rates, surgical start-to-finish times, number of patient encounters, etc.
