Emphasis on Immunizations
The Update
The introduction of Immunization questions in Section W (Supplemental Items) in October 2005 and publishing of the Immunization Standard final rule demonstrate the increased focus by CMS on immunizations. Additionally, a new Immunization quality measure is currently being developed with a target date to publish data from this quality measure on the Nursing Home Compare website in September/October 2006. Information on immunizations is available from the following websites – CMS Satellite Broadcast on NH Immunizations (http://cms.internetstreaming.com/) or the Toolkit located at the MedQIC website.
What Momentum is Doing
Once the technical requirements for the new quality measures are published, a change request will be initiated to add this functionality to the Quality Measures reported by the application.
