New SNF Staff Time Measurement Study (STRIVE)
The Update
This project has been started for three main purposes. First, to update resource minutes to reflect current utilization practices. Second, to recalibrate the RUGIII groups including the new groups. Third, to evaluate the need to update the RUGIII grouper. Currently the project is in start-up mode with a pilot study planned to start in March 2006. The states and facilities to be included in the study have not been identified. Once the study is initiated, field work is anticipated to take one year with an additional six months for data analysis prior to conclusions being published. Project findings and recommendations for change will be discussed through the rule making process.
Information about the STRIVE project is located at the CMS website or https://www.qtso.com/strive.html. A STRIVE project newsletter has been published and is available for download here.
What Momentum is Doing
There will be no impact on the MDS application at this time. A change request will be initiated for any required changes after the project is completed.
