CMS Publishes Information Concerning NPI
June 2006
The Update
CMS has published an
information sheet
concerning the NPI (National Provider Identifier). The NPI compliance date is May 23, 2007; however CMS is recommending that providers obtain this identifier at least six months prior to this date.
What Momentum is Doing
The MDS application allows for the NPI to be entered and submitted as part of MDS transmission. A Change Request (CHR00002995) has been documented to provide additional validation for the NPI number entered in the application. This change request shall be considered for the future release.
