Updates to ICD-9-CM List
August 2006
The Update
The list of new, invalid and revised ICD-9-CM codes has been posted to the CMS website for review. The updated codes will be implemented on October 1, 2006.
The downloadable file that is used for importing into Care Management and MDS is available here.
What Momentum is Doing
- A change request (CHR00004304) to include the updated codes in the MDS application has been documented and will be completed in a future project.
- A change request (CHR00004305) to include the updated codes in the Care Management application has been documented and will be completed in a future project.
- Versions of Care Management and MDS that have been released or installed prior to October 1, 2006 will not include the new ICD-9 codes. Therefore, users will need to import them manually into the applications. When importing into Care Management both the diagnosis and surgical codes should be imported. When importing into MDS, only the diagnosis codes should be imported.
- The codes need to be imported into both the Care Management and MDS applications in order to have correct application function.
- For clients sites that have an integrated Billing solution, please contact the Momentum Healthware support department prior to October 1, 2006 for information about how to update the codes in the Billing solution.
