Regulatory Updates
PAC (Post Acute Care) Reform
December 2006

The Update
Further to our regulatory update last winter, this project has made steady progress. In July 2007, a special open door forum was held to discuss the project status. This link provides an overview of the project status.

A CMS Press Release has been published to recruit participants into the Post Acute Care Payment Reform Demonstration project (PAC-PRD) that will be running in 2008. Participant selection shall occur in fall 2007.

A copy of the CARE tool may be downloaded here. The tool itself is located in the zipped document in Appendix B.

What Momentum is Doing
The CARE data is collected in a web-based application that has been developed as part of the PAC-PRD project so it is anticipated that any clients participating in the demonstration project will be directly entering data into this web application.

There have been suggestions that data could be imported from other clinical systems into this web based application but technical specifications have not been released for review. Momentum Healthware shall continue to follow the project and if technical specifications are released, we shall consider this type of data interface. If it is determined that this type of data transfer would assist our clients, a change request will be documented at that time.
