CMS has recently posted a guidance document related to the remote use and access to electronic protected health information that identifies risks with remote access to protected health information and suggests possible risk management solutions. This document can be downloaded by clicking

Currently CMS contractors are developing an assessment tool that can be used across all sectors of the PAC market (including skilled nursing facilities). This tool shall be used in a demonstration project starting in January 2008.
